Police Arrest Woman for Shooting Man at Sudley-Area Hotel

The woman allegedly shot a man at the Manassas LaQuinta Inn

MANASSAS, Va.  — Prince William Officers responded to a shooting incident at the LaQuinta Inn, located at 6950 Nova Way in Manassas (20109), July 3 at 3:12 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 30-year-old man who had sustained a gunshot wound. They immediately administered first aid until fire and rescue personnel arrived at the scene. The victim was subsequently airlifted to a nearby hospital, where he is expected to recover from his injuries.

According to the investigation, the victim and Jasmine Cortes, a 26-year-old female acquaintance, were inside a hotel room when a verbal altercation escalated. During the confrontation, Cortes retrieved a firearm and shot the victim. Following the incident, the victim left the room, and nearby occupants of another hotel room promptly alerted the authorities. Cortes was apprehended by officers without any further complications.

No additional injuries or property damage were reported in connection with the incident. After a thorough investigation, Jasmine Cortes, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. The court date is pending, and she is currently being held without bond.
