The Virginia Department of Transportation is asking motorists to delay travel in Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William and Arlington counties this morning so crews can work to clear and treat snow covered roads.
"The majority of major roads across the state are still in moderate condition," a VDOT spokesperson said. "Interstates and major primaries are passable with extreme caution."
Moderate condition indicates that there is snow or ice on major portions of the road.
Although roads were plowed continuously throughout the night, there is still a layer of snow and ice.
