Manassas City Police have arrested two additional suspects in connection with the deadly shooting on Sept. 4, during the Manassas First Friday celebration in Old Town Manassas. The shooting resulted in the death of a 16-year-old girl of Prince William County.
According to Manassas Police, on Sept. 4 at approximately 9:28 p.m., Manassas officers heard gunfire in the vicinity of the 9400 block of West St.
Responding to the scene, officers quickly located two injured individuals and provided emergency aid. Both were transported to local hospitals.
Tragically, a 16-year-old girl, an uninvolved bystander, later succumbed to her injuries.
The second individual, identified as Tasheem R. Douglas, was determined to be one of the shooters and was subsequently arrested on Sept. 5.
During the investigation, detectives learned that just before the shooting, suspect Xavier Wanzer, approached and confronted Douglas. Wanzer and Douglas had a hostile relationship that existed before the incident, said police.
According to the report, during the confrontation, Douglas produced a firearm and fired multiple rounds at Wanzer. Wanzer was not struck; however, the uninvolved 16-year-old juvenile was hit by gunfire.
As Douglas fled, Wanzer returned fire.
A third individual, identified as Talib Davis, was also present during the incident and fired at Douglas from the train depot parking lot at the same time Wanzer discharged his weapon.
Douglas sustained a gunshot wound to the leg/buttock area. Immediately following the incident, Wanzer and Davis fled the scene.
With assistance from the United Marshals Service, investigators located and apprehended Wanzer and Davis on Sept. 8. All three individuals are currently being held at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center without bond.
