Two horses perished Saturday when a barn and shed caught fire in the 9300 block of Troy Drive in Bristow.
According to Department of Fire & Rescue Communications Specialist Kim Y. Hylander, the fire did not spread to the single-family home on the property.
"Upon arrival, firefighters observed a barn and neighboring shed on fire in lieu of the home with no threat to the home," Hylander said. "As a precautionary measure, the home was evacuated."
As the structures were completely consumed, firefighters initiated a defensive attack using a rural water operation to extinguish the fire.
The homeowners were uninjured, but a chaplin was on the scene to console the family.
The fire is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
