Police, Rescue Personnel Respond to Self-Inflicted Shooting Incident in Gainesville

Posted

Prince William County Police and Fire & Rescue were called to the 14000 block of Catbird Drive in Gainesville 11:24 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a self-inflicted injury.

The 911 call came from a "frantic" individual, who said her husband shot himself.

Police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok said, "It was an isolated incident, no public threat."

However, he is not calling it a suicide attempt, since the incident is still under investigation.

Emergency crews had the 42-year-old man flown out to an area hospital.

While police are vague about the severity of his injuries, someone close to the victim reports that he is on life support and in a medically induced coma.

Bristow Beat will post more information as it becomes available.
