Police Issue Alert Following Garage Thefts

policecrusiercloseRecent thefts from local homes have prompted the Prince William County Police Department to issue a warning to residents.

"The have been several reports of larcenies from garages that have been left open," a spokesperson said on the department's Facebook page. "Bicycles and other items have been removed from garages that have been left open."

Among these were incidents on Landfall CourtTackhouse Loop and most recently Solitary Place in Bristow.

These thefts have occurred at all hours of the day and night and officials remind residents to take precautions, which include:

  • Lock all windows, doors and the garage at all times, even when at home.
  • Keep outside lights on and use motion sensors.
  • If you hear something suspicious, go into a safe room and call 911.
  • Be on the lookout for suspicious individuals and activity in your neighborhood

"Please remember that reporting suspicious activity in your neighborhood can assist the police department in preventing crime and apprehending suspects," th said. "Together, we can make our community a safe and enjoyable place to live."
