Recent thefts from local homes have prompted the Prince William County Police Department to issue a warning to residents.
"The have been several reports of larcenies from garages that have been left open," a spokesperson said on the department's Facebook page. "Bicycles and other items have been removed from garages that have been left open."
Among these were incidents on Landfall Court, Tackhouse Loop and most recently Solitary Place in Bristow.
These thefts have occurred at all hours of the day and night and officials remind residents to take precautions, which include:
"Please remember that reporting suspicious activity in your neighborhood can assist the police department in preventing crime and apprehending suspects," th said. "Together, we can make our community a safe and enjoyable place to live."
