A Nokesville resident started a small fire Saturday attempting to remove a wasp's nest from his home.
According to Department of Fire and Rescue Communications Specialist Kim Hylander, at 12:50 p.m., firefighters responded to a structure fire in a single family home, located in the 11800 block of Parkgate Drive.
"Upon arrival, firefighters observed a fire had been extinguished, by the occupant, with a garden hose," Hylander said. "The occupant was attempting to remove a wasp’s nest in the eave of the roof using brake cleaner."
No injuries were reported.
Following an investigation, the Fire Marshal’s Office determined the fire started in the attic; the cause has been determined as accidental.
Preliminary damages are estimated at $200.00.
