Prince William County Public Schools placed Gainesville High School and Gainesville Middle School under "secure the building status" Monday morning, at the request of the Prince Wiliam County Police.

According to Master Officer Renee Carr, Stafford County Police asked them to assist in finding a "person in crisis" whom they thought to be in that area.

The status was lifted at 12:49 p.m., and police do not believe there is a threat to the community.

The status did not interrupt the school day, but over social media, some parents expressed their anxiety over not knowing the reason for the status.
