According to the Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue, the Dorel Juvenile Group is recalling certain Cosco and Safety 1st car seats, models IC123 FSM and IC124 FSM, manufactured from May 1, 2011 through April 25, 2012.
Affected seats were sold without a base and therefore fail to provide the LATCH attachment assembly as required by FMVSS 213. Although seats can be installed without the base using the vehicle seat belt, the company does not recommend this method. Without the LATCH attachment, seats may be difficult to install, and thus improper installation could potentially result in an improperly installed child restraint.
