VIRGINIA STATE POLICE
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY – Virginia State Police is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 3:10 p.m. on Interstate 66 eastbound, approximately 0.3 miles west of Bull Run Drive.
A 2013 Toyota Corolla was traveling at a high rate of speed when it entered a rest area, struck a parked 2024 Kenworth 310 tractor, and burst into flames.
The driver of the Toyota, Jose Daniel Rivera Quintana, 19, of Bristow, Virginia, died at the scene at 3:21 p.m. He was wearing a seatbelt. The crash is not believed to be alcohol-related.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, who was resting in the cab of the tractor-trailer, was not injured.
The Kenworth tractor was legally parked at the time of the crash.
The preliminary investigation indicates the driver of the Toyota failed to maintain control of the vehicle.
This crash remains under investigation.
