Bitter Cold Wind Chills to Return Friday Morning

Posted

While the Wind Chill Advisory expired early Wednesday afternoon, the National Weather Service may need to issue another one for Friday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, wind chill values will drop below zero late Thursday into Friday.

"Temperatures and dewpoint temperatures will modify some today ahead of an approaching cold front," a NWS forecaster said. "Winds will become southwest to westerly ahead of the front; once it passes, winds will shift to the west-northwest and become gusty. Expect wind gusts 20 to 25 mph."

On Thursday, residents can expect highs in the 20's with possible flurries in the afternoon and evening.

"Much of any accumulations will be confined to the Potomac highlands," they said.

Breezy conditions are expected Thursday and Thursday night, with lows in the single digits overnight into Friday.

High pressure will build Friday, bringing sunshine and dry conditions; however, temperatures will not rise above the mid-20s in the region.
