STERLING, VA – Stohlman Subaru of Sterling partnered with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS) to surprise UVA Health Prince William Medical Center with a donation of 80 blankets, care kits and handwritten messages of hope for cancer patients as part of the national Subaru Loves to Care® initiative supporting patients and families impacted by blood cancer.

Every three minutes, a new patient in the U.S. is diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma. The treatment and rehabilitation process can often be long and arduous, leaving patients feeling cold, confined and in a weakened state.

Stohlman Subaru of Sterling’s donation helps to provide physical and emotional support during treatment. The donation of warm blankets and messages of encouragement is just one of the ways Stohlman Subaru is committed to supporting the health and well-being of the community.

“We know how physically and emotionally difficult cancer treatment can be, and we hope that our donations today help to ease those challenges and provide comfort for these courageous members of our community and their families,” said Will James, GSM at Stohlman Subaru of Sterling. “This is one of many ways Stohlman Subaru gives back as part of the Subaru Love Promise, and we’re grateful for our partnership with LLS and UVA Health to make a meaningful impact.”

Beyond the blankets delivered to keep patients warm, patient care kits include hand lotion, lip balm and eye masks, plus games and puzzles for patients undergoing treatment. Messages of hope were personalized by Stohlman Subaru of Sterling’s employees and customers.

Stohlman Subaru of Sterling also contributed $5,000 to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Patient Aid Program, which provides blood cancer patients with financial assistance for costs associated with treatment, such as transportation, food, housing and more.

“Since 2016, Stohlman Subaru customers and team members have been sharing their messages of hope with our patients and community with the support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and we truly appreciate them,” said UVA Community Health Chief Executive Officer Erik Shannon. “It is especially meaningful to our patients, and also to our team members, because our UVA Health mission statement is to transform health and inspire hope for all Virginians and beyond. This partnership directly supports that mission.”

This is the seventh year Stohlman Subaru of Sterling has partnered with Prince William Medical Center and is part of their year-round commitment to the local community including additional partnerships with K-9 Caring Angels, SpringFest, Legacy Elementary, Loudoun South Little League and more.

Stohlman Subaru of Sterling is one of more than 600 national Subaru retailers across the country working with LLS to help support families and children impacted by blood cancer. This is the eighth consecutive year that Subaru of America has partnered with LLS. By the end of 2023, Subaru of America and its retailers across the country will have supported nearly 300,000 cancer patients. In addition, Subaru of America will match donations to LLS.org during Subaru Loves to Care month (June 1-30, 2023), up to $150,000 in total.
