According to Fire Marshal Matt Smolsky, the occupants smelled smoke and discovered it to be emanating from the attic.

The fire was visible and already spreading to an adjoining home by the time firefighters arrived on the scene. They extinguished the flames quickly. No injuries were reported.

The residence sustained extensive damage while an adjoining home suffered smoke and water damage. Both homes were posted unsafe to occupy by the Building Official.

Two adults were displaced. The Fire Marshal’s Office determined a lightning strike ignited the fire.
