Police Arrest Suspect for Murder of 21-Year-Old at Dumfries Home

Suspect allegedly gunned down two men inside a house

Police arrested suspect Daniel Christopher Shannon, 33, of Fredericksburg, Va., Tuesday, in connection with the fatal shooting of Jeremiah Quentin Deck, 21, of Woodbridge. The incident occurred at a home located along Fort Monroe Court in  Dumfries, the morning of June 23.

Shannon is further charged with malicious wounding of another man, who had been shot in the chest allegedly at the same time as Deck.  

Shannon turned himself in without incident.

June 23 at 9:42 a.m., Prince William County officers responded to a residence located in the 1900 block of Fort Monroe Court in Dumfries to investigate a shooting, 

Upon arrival, they located two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers provided first aid to both, and shortly afterward, fire and rescue personnel transported the victims to a nearby hospital.

Jeremiah Quentin Deck died at the hospital. The second man remains hospitalized as per the last report. 

Meanwhile, before police arrived, the suspect had fled the residence in a blue 2006 Ford Explorer, with a Virginia license plate: VVA-7727. Police were unable to locate him and believed he had left the immediate area by the time they began their search. 

Police also alerted the public that the incident did not appear to be random. 

Further investigation revealed Shannon, the two victims and other occupants of the home were inside when an argument ensued. Following the argument, the individuals parted. Soon after, Shannon allegedly went up to the upper level of the residence. 

It was there that the two victims were shot multiple times, both to the upper body.

After an investigation, detectives obtained arrest warrants for the suspect identified as Daniel Christopher Shannon.

The accused, Daniel Christopher Shannon, 33, of 611 Olde Forge Drive in Fredericksburg, turned himself over to the police without incident, June 27. 

Shannon was charged with 1 count of murder, 1 count of aggravated malicious wounding, 2 counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony, and 1 count of discharging a firearm within a dwelling.

His court date is pending. He is being held withOUT bail.
