According to Prince William County Police, neither alcohol, drug use, nor speeding resulted in the Christmas Day car crash that killed Josh Morrison.
Joshua Michael Morrison, 19, of Bristow, was involved in a single car accident at the 10300 block of Burwell Road in Nokesville on Dec. 25, 2013. Prince William County Police arrived on the scene at 10:15 p.m.
Prince William Police released the results of their investigation into the accident Monday afternoon.
“The investigation revealed that the driver, and only occupant of a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, was traveling southbound on Burwell Road when the vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree and then an embankment before striking a second tree,” spokesperson Officer Jonathan Perok said.
Morrison was partially ejected from his car. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, police say.
The driver was flown to an area hospital where he died on January 3, 2014.
Morrison was among the first class to graduate from Patriot High School, where he was a star outfielder for the Pioneers. He previously attended Brentsville High School. He was a first-year student at George Mason University. Friends said they remember Morrison for his humor, charm and loyalty.
A service will be held for Joshua Morrison at Grace Life Community Church in Bristow on Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 5 p.m.
